Senior Pastor

Pastor Brian began his duties at Oakwood United Methodist Church in July 2004. As Senior Pastor, he has full responsibility for the workings of Oakwood UMC. The church is located in a pleasant suburb just south of Dayton, Ohio.

Pastor Brian received his appointment and arrived from Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church in Cincinnati. He had joined the HPCUMC staff in 2002, after completing his Master of Divinity degree at United Theological Seminary. During his time as a student, he also served as pastor of Sharon United Methodist Church and Zoar United Methodist Church in Wilmington, Ohio.

Brian decided to become a minister as a "second career" after working at Elder-Beerman Stores Corporation in software development and management from 1984 to 1998. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from Miami University.

Brian is married to Laura Thie. They have three children - Kyle, Amy and Amanda.

For his free time, Brian's favorite hobbies include world travel, basketball, and listening to music.
